Sheffield is a city of stunning landscapes – the greenest in Europe, creative, welcoming and rich in culture and history, but with a modern outlook and lots to see and do. Click here for details on things to see and do, food and drink, places to explore, and other useful information.
The organizers of iConference 2018 are pleased to also offer an optional excursion to visit Chatsworth House, a stately home in the Peak District surrounded by extensive gardens. Chatsworth House is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. There are over 30 rooms for visitors to explore including galleries containing works of art spanning 4,000 years, the State Rooms, and the guest bedrooms. There is also much to explore in the 105-acre garden, including water features, sculptures, and a maze.
Simon Jenkins, in his encyclopedic “England’s Thousand Best Houses” (Penguin Books, 2004), considers Chatsworth to be one of the twenty finest houses in the entire country, noting that “it is hard to convey the sheer richness of this place.”
The excursion takes place Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 13:30-18:00. Conference participants can sign up for the excursion when they register. The £28 excursion fee will be added to your your total registration invoice. The fee covers travel to and from Chatsworth, and the hire of an audio guide. Space is limited.
