Much of the world is experiencing an extraordinary era of ubiquitous technology, perhaps the most pervasive of which are the algorithms that have become deeply integrated into our work and social lives becoming unseen architects, shaping everything from social interactions to economic transactions. These algorithms influence increasingly critical decisions and are shaping our world in unprecedented ways. From social media feeds to financial markets, healthcare to criminal justice, algorithmic processes are increasingly determining outcomes that impact our personal and professional lives.

With the theme "Living in an AI-gorithmic World,” iConference 2025 seeks to explore the implications on collecting, storing, retrieving, using, and distributing information increasingly influenced by algorithmic processes, such as generative artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and related technologies. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their papers, panels, and workshops proposals on this pivotal theme. We solicit research and critical commentary that examines the multifaceted dimensions of artificial intelligence and its role in contemporary life, to foster a deeper understanding of their benefits, challenges, and ethical implications.

We welcome empirical and theoretical submissions that investigate the ways in which cultural, political, organizational, economic and other psychological and social dynamics have been and are/will be altered by these innovative processes. We encourage interdisciplinary approaches including ones from Information Science, Library Science and Data Science that bridge the gap between technology, society, and human values — for example, address questions such as how can we design algorithmic processes that enhance human well-being and promote societal good? Papers that explore collaborations between technologists, ethicists, policymakers, and community stakeholders to create more inclusive and human-centric algorithmic systems are also welcomed. We also welcome any paper/research that addresses relevant topics related to information, technology, and people beyond this year’s theme.

We also encourage you to submit any paper/research that address relevant topics related to information, technology, and people beyond this year’s theme.

Submit your full and short papers and panel, workshop and symposia proposals to contribute to this vital discourse and celebrate the 20th anniversary of iConference. Together, we can begin and shape the discourse about the complexities of living in an algorithmic world, ensuring that these powerful tools serve to enhance, rather than diminish, the human experience.
