At the School of International Information Management, we combine Information Science, Computational Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication. We believe that with this combination students can participate in teams creating innovative and user-friendly systems or services within different domains. Much emphasis is placed on user-driven human-computer-interaction, users ‘information behaviour, and information seeking and retrieval especially of cross-lingual and cross-cultural approaches. In all our subject areas we put the user and his/her needs and requirements first. We understand Information Science in an analytical as well as in a constructive sense so that students can choose one of these directions.

We run a bachelor's and master's programme as well as doctoral programmes.
Our undergraduate programme offers studying abroad for one semester and the course portfolio embraces multidisciplinary learning with the opportunity to specialize on information and computer science or on information science and digital social sciences.
Additionally, we offer a Joint Degree: Global Studies on Management and Information Science (IIM-GLOMIS)
For the students at the University of Hildesheim the Joint Degree Program combines the master’s degree Programs "International Information Management - Information Science" of the University of Hildesheim and "Information and Communication Engineering" of the Pai Chai University, Daejeon and "Management Information Systems" of the Chungbuk National University, Cheongju.
