About

The School of Information Management at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), founded in 1980, focuses on the fundamental task of nurturing virtue and talents. Its goal of talent cultivation is to nurture students who have both ability and moral integrity, are able to cultivate charisma, and are eager to serve their country. Its basic guiding philosophy is to be oriented toward academic frontiers, oriented toward national major strategic needs, and oriented toward national and regional economic and social development.

After forty years of development, our School is now the only teaching and research unit in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area that has a complete first-level discipline of Information Resource Management, as well as a comprehensive talent development system with continuous education layers of bachelor, master and doctor degrees, scientific disciplines and professional degrees, together with a postdoctoral research station. Our three undergraduate courses (namely, Library Science, Archives Science, and Information Management and Information System) and three master courses (namely Information Science, Library Science, and Archives Science) have gained CILIP accreditation. The School is also part of the iSchools movement and voting member of IFLA and ICA, and so has a strong international academic influence. Overall, as one of the top iSchools both nationally and internationally, we are keen to establish long-term partnerships and collaborations with colleagues and leading researchers in both academia and industry.
