College of Computing & Informatics at Drexel University is hosting the 2016 iConference

The iSchool Caucus is pleased to announce that the location for the 2016 iConference has been selected. It will be hosted by the College of Computing & Informatics at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

“We at Drexel are delighted and excited that our bid was accepted,” remarked David E. Fenske, the Isaac L. Auerbach Professor and Dean at the College of Computing and Informatics at Drexel. “Philadelphia is a great city, and Drexel University and the College of Computing & Informatics will do a great job in hosting the iConference. “

“I am proud to name Drexel as the 2016 conference host institution,” said Elizabeth D. Liddy, Chair of the iSchools Organization. “They put forward an excellent conference bid, and will ensure a great experience for attendees.”

A date will be set shortly, and more details of the 2016 conference will be available at that time.

The iConference is an annual gathering of a broad spectrum of scholars and researchers from around the world who share a common concern about critical information issues in contemporary society. The iConference pushes the boundaries of information studies, explores core concepts and ideas, and creates new technological and conceptual configurations—all situated in interdisciplinary discourses.

The iConference series was established in 2005 by the iSchools Organization, a growing worldwide association of Information Schools dedicated to advancing the information field, and preparing students to meet the information challenges of the 21st Century. Each annual iConference is hosted by a different iSchools member-institution.

An openness to new ideas and research fields in information science is a primary characteristics of the event. Attendance has grown every year; participants appreciate the inspiring sense of community, high quality research presentations, and myriad opportunities for engagement.

iConference participants do not need to be affiliated with an iSchool; all information scholars, researchers and practitioners are welcome.
