The iSchools announce that the Department of Information Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has joined the organization. With the addition of KKU, the iSchools consortium now numbers 100 active members.
Founded in 1975, KKU’s Department of Information Science is headed by Dr. Malee Kabmala, and resides within the University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Prof. Dr. Kulthida Tuamusk, Dean). The school has doctoral, master’s and undergraduate programs, and significant research areas include Digital Humanities, Information Behaviors, Information/Digital Literacy, Knowledge Management, and Data Mining/Analytics.
The school notes that its curriculum is interdisciplinary in design, maintaining the principles of data and content management in the fields of library science and integrating the issues of information management. The school feels its relationship with the iSchools organization will help facilitate collaboration with other schools in Southeast Asia and around the world.
