iSchools Chair Sanda Erdelez has assumed the role of Interim Dean of the College of Organizational, Computational and Information Sciences (COCIS) at Simmon’s University. She was formerly Director of the School of Library and Information Science, a division of COCIS.
Prof. Erdelez became iSchools Chair earlier this year and is co-leader of the organization’s Women’s Coalition. She has also held numerous leadership positions with ASIS&T.
Internationally recognized for her pioneering research in the areas of information encountering, Prof. Erdelez’s research interests include human information behavior, human-computer interaction and usability evaluation in online environments. She received her LL.B. and LL.M degrees from the University of Osijek Law School (Croatia) and Ph.D. in information transfer from the iSchool at Syracuse University. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and recipient of The Texas Excellence Teaching Award and The ALISE Pratt-Severn Faculty Innovation Award.
To fill the position vacated by Prof. Erdelez, Prof. Laura Saunders will serve as Interim Director of Simmons SLIS.
