The Junior Professorship will research the impact of information infrastructures and information systems on the digital transformation. Library and Information Science researches these topics both from a social science oriented perspective (community-based and ethical issues, use of information technology) as well as information technology oriented perspective (data and information analytical research on the digital transformation, design and development of information systems and information infrastructures).
Memory institutions (above all libraries) and public information infrastructures constitute a major research and teaching area at the Berlin School of Library and Information Science, as they are responsible for the organization, management and preservation of information flows in a society. We welcome qualified applications from scholars whose research addresses important and innovative areas of research especially in the fields of Library and Information Science and related disciplines. Focused research areas should be one or more of the following: Information / Data / Digital Literacy; Information Didactics; Computational Thinking; Information Governance; Information Ethics; Algorithmic Transparency, Computational Fairness, Bias and similar approaches; Socio-technical Systems / Social Informatics.
The professorship will strengthen the existing research and teaching areas of Information Behavior, Information Management, Information Retrieval and Information Processing and Analytics at the school.
