  • Social media assistant professor: The UM iSchool seeks a tenure-track professor at the assistant level in social media. Broadly construed, the research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: online harassment; discussion norms and communities; social support; social capital; information-seeking; misinformation and disinformation in social media channels; online civility; content moderation and regulation.   • Faculty position in digital curation, archival studies, and scientific data use and reuse: The UM iSchool seeks tenure-track professors at the assistant, associate or full level in the multidisciplinary areas of digital curation, archival science, scientific data use and reuse. Broadly construed, the research areas of interest include: digital curation technologies and methods; discovery, representation and interpretation of archival content and collections; open science and scholarship; provenance of data, objects, images, archival records, and collections; integrity and user acceptance of digital archives; metadata and information organization; and the economics of long-term sustainability. The deadlien for applications is as far out as May of 2022; the school anticipates a multi-year search with the possibility of multiple offers.

  • Faculty position in archival and digital studies: The UM iSchool seeks a tenure-track professor at the assistant level in the multidisciplinary areas of archival studies and digital studies. This is a university-year appointment with an expected start date of September 1, 2019. The candidate will be recruited as part of a cluster hire that includes scholars from Communication Studies and the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies who are working in critical/cultural humanistic and social science methods to analyze digital culture. This is a broad search open to researchers working in a variety of methods and concerned with the archive or archives and the power, social change, identity, and representation associated with those who are documented by others versus themselves and those who have the right to represent themselves and others. Application deadline: May 24, 2019.
