The University of Washington iSchool has announced the following openings:
Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track, in Data and Information Science: Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, candidates with expertise in the following research areas: data management, AI and machine learning, information visualization, HCI and design, or technology ethics and policy. This position will be expected to conduct research that engages with the University of Washington Information School’s strategic commitments to (1) promote equity in health & wellbeing, (2) encourage environmental sustainability and resilience, and (3) foster a more informed, just, and equitable democratic society.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in their area of specialization as well as to advance our undergraduate curriculum in areas related to any of the following: databases, data science, HCI, design, software development, or ethics and policy. Assistant Professor, Teaching Track, in Data and Information Science: This position will be expected to teach the study, design, and development of information technology for the good of people, organizations, society, and the environment. The successful applicant will be expected to (1) be an engaged teacher and mentor, (2) engage in one or more domains of information technology below, (3) engage diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and justice in the context of teaching technical topics, and (4) contextualize the material where possible in service of iSchool strategic priorities in environmental sustainability and resilience, working toward a more informed, just, and equitable democratic society, and promoting equity in health & well-being.
